Saiko! @ Sublime party

Sublime? Ridiculous more like!!

Anyway, finally, Sublime is back on 12/07/03 @ Sublime, 1 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, London.

The mad, bad and the stupid have once again forged an alliance to give you possibly the most messed up night in London.

From all three and a half corners of London's underground scene, a bunch of around 20 promoters, DJ's and assorted clubbing enthusiasts have got together to create a two roomed DJ mash-up night of techno, underground house, breaks, trance, d&b, disco and pretty much anything in between.

As usual, it's a word of mouth, invite only night with a £2 entry fee that all goes to charity (Survival). It kicks off at 8pm and finishes at 3am.

Mail me if you want to be put on the list. There's no restriction on who can come but no-one will be allowed in on the night who is not on the list so,, send me the names!!!

What is Sublime

Sublime is one of those 'concept gone mad' nights where a silly idea was put into practice and found to work amazingly well.

The idea was to get a bunch of different promoters, DJ's and assorted music enthusiasts to put on a free party for their friends and their friends. So, a group of 20 or so of us joined up to create a night of very many different musical styles. The original intention was for it to be just a bit of a social night out but it was very obvious from the first one that we'd created a completly different monster.

We have two rooms, the ground floor caters for the loungy, sexy, trashy and oblique with a selection of DJs playing deep house, progressive, house disco and breaks. Downstairs is for the more upbeat stuff starting off with a little trance but progressing through tech-house, funky techno, d&b, ghetto tech and full on techno.

As the venue had some rather odd licencing restrictions, we are unable to promote this party in the usual way. The venue is only allowed to put on 'private' parties at the weekends so we can't advertise or give out flyers for the night. Everything has to be done by word of mouth, email, SMS or by phoning. The 'private' party status also means that everyone has to be 'invited' and no-one is allowed entry on the door unless they're on the list.

This 'limitation' has actually become one of Sublime's biggest assets as it turns the whole night into a special event rather than just a night out.

Previous night have always gone down a storm with us getting between 550 and 750 people through the doors so it just goes to show what people can achieve without the need for too much promotion.

Whilst no money goes to the bar or ourselves, each event has a registered charity collecting money at the door. This is not a donation as such and so therefore should really be called a fee but as it's only £1 or £2 pounds, I'm most people are not opposed to this.
